Overview
Western Sahara ( الصحراء الغربية) is a disputed territory in the Maghreb region of North Africa, partially controlled by the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and partially Moroccan-occupied, bordered by Morocco to the north, and Algeria to the northeast. Morocco claims the Western Sahara territory and administers Moroccan law through Moroccan institutions in the estimated 85% of the territory it controls.
Western Sahara is not a member of the ITU. Within the SADR held areas it is unclear what telecommunications and spectrum regulation practices are in place.
