Overview

Norfolk Island (Norf'k Ailen) is a small island in the Pacific Ocean located between Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia, 1,412 kilometres directly east of mainland Australia. The island is part of the Commonwealth of Australia.

As a territory of Australia Norfolk Island is not a member of the ITU however follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-3. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Australian Government Department of Communications and the Arts, and the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is charged with regulating the island's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
