Overview
Brazil (Brasil), officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and Latin America.
Mobile and mobile broadband penetration rates are ahead of both regional and global levels, with the Brazilian government encouraging regional accessibility through the release of 450 MHz and 700 MHz spectrum for LTE. Brazil is a member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and as such follows radio frequency harmonisation principles according to ITU-R Region-2. The regulatory body governing communications policy is the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications, and the Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações - ANATEL is charged with regulating the country's radio frequency spectrum activities such as planning, allocations, and licencing.
